Bahamas

The Bahamas comprise a grouping of more than 700 Caribbean Islands located just off the south-east coast of Florida. This tropical paradise offers something for everyone from the beginner to the accomplished diver. There are hundreds of spectacular and pristine diving destinations including blue holes, walls, caves, shipwrecks and huge expanses of shallow, intricate reef systems. The topographical variety of dive sites is extensive, as is the breathtaking diversity of marine life, from the smallest of creatures to sharks and wild dolphins.

Beach at Emerald Palms Explore shipwrecks and underwater movie sets in the waters off Nassau with our partner at Stuart Cove’s or go beyond such popular tourist destinations to any of hundreds of The Out Islands such as Andros Island, Cat Island, Conception Island, San Salvador, and The Exumas.
A liveaboard trip aboard one of Blackbeard's vessels will give you a taste of some of the Out Islands.

Andros Island is the largest island in the Bahamas, yet one of the most wild and beautiful. It is well known for its plentiful blue holes (both ocean blue holes and inland), for having the third largest barrier reef in the world and for its vast, underwater canyon, The “Tongue of the Ocean”. Topside enjoy well loved biking, birding and nature trails. Our partner is Emerald Palms and diving with Andros Diving.

On the virtually untouched, Cat Island you can view sunrise from the highest point in the Bahamas, Mt. Alvernia and interact with interesting locals at Sharkey’s Bar.

Conception Island is an uninhabited, reef-rimmed and protected park which is an hatching site for green turtles and nesting site for seabirds. San Salvador is, most interestingly, the exposed peak of a sub-sea mountain . It is surrounded by walls and is a good viewing area for schools of Hammerhead Sharks between November and June. More seabirds breed on San Salvador than any other locality in the Bahamas.
Explore these Southern Bahamas during the months of April to October aboard Caribbean Explorer II.
Also consider diving at any of the hundreds of tiny, pristine and remote islands of the Northern Exumas yearround aboard Aqua Cat Cruises.

Diving Seasons: Year round; however, best time for visibility and warm water is April to October ( barring storms )

Approximate Water Temperature: Summer Temperatures in the low 80’s F . Winter in the mid 70’s F ( or colder )

Visibility: 80 – 100 Feet
